Introducing the Office of Technology Development and Industrial Services of the Campus of Technical Colleges

The Office of Technology Development and Industrial Services was established in December 2017 in order to develop the interactions of the campus of technical colleges of the University of Tehran with industries, organizations and public and private companies and in order to expedite and facilitate the acquisition of applied research projects. This office has been established as a center for accepting the needs of industrial, service, specialized and research units in the form of applied projects and reflecting these needs to the esteemed research assistants and faculty members of the technical faculties of Tehran University and establishing systematic communication with the executive and industrial body. Main tasks of the Office of Technology Development and Industrial Services:

  • Planning and policy setting; And preparing and proposing the necessary by-laws, instructions and executive programs to strengthen, facilitate and develop the joint scientific, research and industrial relations and cooperation of the technical faculties with the executive and industrial centers (in accordance with the university's by-laws).
  • Planning and coordination to carry out research activities and expand executive activities using the facilities and specialized forces available in technical colleges.
  • Establishing and maintaining the relationship between the technical and industrial faculties of the country by holding meetings and introducing the scientific and research capabilities of the faculties to the industrial centers.
  • Identify the needs, problems and shortcomings of the industry; Refer needs to relevant units; And establishing communication with the executive and industrial body of the country in order to solve the existing problems.
  • Obtaining RFP from organizations and companies and following it until the contract is signed.
  • Concluding a memorandum and contract with the industries applying to receive scientific and research services from technical colleges.
  • Follow up existing memoranda and extract applied research projects from them.
  • Develop a program to use the capacity and scientific and research capabilities of the campus in international applied projects.
  • Providing laboratory and workshop services to the applicant industries and companies in compliance with the items mentioned in the relevant regulations.

In this regard, in order to implement the programs and optimize the activities of this office, related organizations and industries are separated according to the subject areas and delegated to the relevant expert. The main steps for obtaining and implementing projects are as follows:

  1. Informing industry research calls to faculty members and requesting the completion of a one-page introductory form
  2. Examining the received preliminary forms together with the relevant employer and selecting a small number to complete the technical and financial questionnaire forms
  3. Holding a meeting between the employer and the relevant team to plan and conclude the contract
  4. Monitoring the progress of the project and controlling the accurate and timely implementation of concluded contracts

Performance report for the second half of 2017 Office of Technology Development and Industrial Services

The Office of Technology Development started with one supervisor, two full-time experts and two part-time (joint) experts. By reviewing and considering the frequency and proximity of subjects, the four main axes of activity were determined as follows for better and more effective performance:

  1. Energy, oil, gas, petrochemical, geology, and mining
  2. Electronics, telecommunications, and computers
  3. Industrial Development and Renovation Organization, and Vice President for Science and Technology
  4. Defense Industries

Also, cases that do not fall into any of the above areas will be followed up by the head of the office along with issues related to the international field.

During the first six months of activity, the Office of Technology Development and Industrial Services has counted 41 categories of research priorities from government and private sector organizations and institutions and has been informed to the faculty members of the relevant faculty. Also, 5 bilateral and trilateral memorandums of understanding have been concluded between the campus of the technical faculties of the university and the parties with the follow-up and coordination of the Office of Technology Development and Industrial Services.
